How dog got a cold, wet nose
(and why he likes to have his head out the car window).
God told Noah to build an ark, and Noah followed God’s instructions… he built
the boat, and gathered all the animals together, just as the sky turned dark…
All the animals were gathered, and moved on to the great boat, and Noah decided
to take roll, being a careful man…
“Elephants?” “Here!" "Tarsiers?" "Here!" Monkeys, giraffes, tigers, and so on…
Noah made sure all the animals were on board… but Dog didn’t say “Here”. “Hey-
anyone see the dog?”
All the animals were crammed into the boat cheek by
jowl… there was no room for the Elk to turn its head, much less for the Elephant
to turn around… “Not here, Noah” all the animal said, after carefully craning
and looking as best as they could.
Noah sent the mouse around to look, just to be sure, but it finally came back
and reported the dogs just weren’t on the boat! What to do?! Just then, Na’hama
(Mrs. Noah to you) saw the dogs in the field… Quick – go get them and close the
door before we all drown! She yelled.
Noah went and brought the dogs up to the ark… but there was no room to put dog
on the boat… not even if he stood beneath Giraffe’s feet… Noah pondered for a
moment… then he asked all the animals to suck in a deep breath, and make
themselves as skinny as they could…
There was a great WHOOSH as they animals all sucked in, and Noah smooshed to
poor dog right in against the door. Quickly, he raised the door and sighed in
relief… just as all the animals let out the breath they’d been holding… Poor
dogs were smashed right up against the door - and their heads went right out the
door!
Well, Noah tried and tried to get dogs' heads in, but it started raining and the
boat started moving, and he just couldn’t find the room for the dogs… so the
dogs spent the 40 days and 40 nights with their noses out in the rain… never
complaining, always happy whenever Noah came along to check on them…
So forever, dogs have cold, wet noses! (and why dogs like thier heads out the
window- it reminds them of that special voyage!)
Hope this made you smile! It sure did me! |
